THE RAIN AND SHOWERS, THUNDERSTORMS WILL NOT GO ON. SO IT’S THIS MORNING THAT WE’RE ANTICIPATING RAINY AND IN SOME SPOTS, STORMING IMPACTS FIRST ALERT LIVE RADAR NORTH AND EAST OF KANSAS CITY. THAT’S WHERE WE FIND THE HEAVIEST OF THE RAIN AND THE LIGHTNING. THERE NEAR RICHMOND AND POLO THAT’S MOVING SOUTH AND EAST TOWARD LEXINGTON. WAVERLY ALONG THE RIVER HIGGINSVILLE CONCORDIA THAT LARGER AREA OF RAIN HERE TO THE NORTH OF KANSAS CITY, STRETCHING BACK TO THE WEST OVER PLATTSBURGH, SAINT JOSEPH, AND ATCHISON. SO THE 435 LOOP RIGHT NOW IS DRY, BUT ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL LIKELY POP UP THROUGH THE MORNING. SO YOU AND YOUR STUDENTS THAT ARE RETURNING TO THE CLASSROOMS WILL NEED YOUR RAIN GEAR THIS MORNING. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL END AT AROUND NOON TOMORROW AND WEDNESDAY. OUR FIRST ALERT WEATHER IMPACT DAYS AS WELL. ROUNDS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY ON TUESDAY. THOSE WILL STRETCH INTO THE AFTERNOON ON WEDNESDAY WE’RE BACK TO THE RAIN, MAINLY CONFINED TO THE MORNING. 12 HOUR FORECAST FOR TODAY IN KANSAS CITY. RAINY AND A FEW STORMY IMPACTS THIS MORNING DRYING OUT OVER LUNCHTIME, PEEKS OF SUNSHINE. AT THE END OF THE DAY WITH A LIGHT NORTH BREEZE, AND ANOTHER DAY WITH BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES. HERE IN KANSAS CITY. BUT IT’S GOING TO FEEL VERY MUGGY BECAUSE OUR DEW POINTS WILL INCREASE INTO THE 70S THIS AFTERNOON. THE HIGHER THAT NUMBER, THE MORE UNCOMFORTABLE THE AIR FEELS. AND PAOLA LA CYGNE IN BUTLER. FIRST ALERT, NINE DAY FORECAST. TWO MORE IMPACT DAYS TO GO BEYOND TODAY. THE FIRST TOMORROW AGAIN THAT WILL STRETCH INTO THE AFTERNOON. SO IT’S AFTER SCHOOL PRACTICES. THE AFTER SCHOOL RIDE HOME TWO TO FROM SCHOOL TO HOME. AND THEN THE EVENING DRIVE. THOSE ALL COULD HAVE SOME RAINY IMPACTS WITH THEM. THEN ON WEDNESDAY THAT RAIN CHANCE IS CONFINED TO THE MORNING. WEDNESDAY IT’S GOING TO FEEL A LOT WARMER TOO, WITH HIGHS RETURNING INTO THE UPPER 80S. THURSDAY SLIM CHANCE OF A SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM 88 DEGREES. SO TYPICAL SUMMER HEAT AND HUMIDITY FOR THE END OF THIS WEEK. WEEKEND PLANS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE FOR OUTDOOR PLANS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. Another round of rain and thunderstorms is possible Wednesday morning, with the potential for a couple of strong storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. Summer heat and humidity will make their return Wednesday afternoon, with heat index values around 100 degrees in some communities.
